Edged By Massapequa for First Regulation Loss
The Cyclones suffered their first regulation loss of the season last night, losing 4-3 to a tough Massapequa squad. RVC played a little sloppy in the first half and didn't play with the intensity we have come to expect most of the early season. After Massi Giammarino would put the Cyclones up 1-0 it would be all Chiefs for awhile. Trailing 2-1, a Cyclones power play would result in a beautiful passing play that ended with Sean Johnson roofing a beauty to tie the game 2-2. The highlight of the game was a terrific penalty kill down 5 on 3 by RVC. Trailing 4-2 late in the game, after a much needed timeout, Cooper Goldspiel would score on a terrific rush up the ice. With goaltender Matty Prezioso pulled foe the extra attacker with two minutes left, the Cyclones would dominate play and keep the puck in the Massapequa end for the reminder of the game. With many opportunities resulting in a shot missing the net, RVC would fall short in the end. Coach Andy Prezioso commented after the game that "had we played all game with the same intensity as we displayed in the last couple of minutes, we would have won the game easily." Sometimes a lot can be gained and learned form a loss, this will be the case for the Cyclones as they need to dig deep for their final game of the first half of the season again Farmingdale.
Player of the game was Cooper Goldspiel who played an amazing two way game and took home a nice new CCM twig!
