Middle School Starts Season Off With A Bang
The middle school squad started the season off on the right foot or skate last night at Ice Works in Syosset. This years team has five returners from last season : Cooper Goldspiel, Sean Johnson, Ethan Epstein, Massi Giammarino, and Gevin Cook and a slew of excited new players to the program. This season RVC dropped their partnership with Malvern and has merged with Hewlett.
Last nights RVC would take on a tough Massapequa team who would score two breakaway goals right off the bat which had to have the RVC parents nervous. Goldspiel would silence the crowd quickly thought burying two goals to even the score. Throughout the game, RVC would score many beautiful goals and at times showed some great passing which was impressive for such a new group of players. Goldspiel, Johnson, Giammarino and Epstein would all have dominant performances last night as expected by their coaches.
Newcomers Eamon Primrose (2 goals), Angelo Efstathiou and Joe Hunsberger would all score goals along the way. Nathan Tucker would play a really solid game on defense for the Cyclones as well. Sammy Sobel would settle down nicely and make some big saves down the stretch as the Cyclones would give up a fair share of breakaways and odd man chances throughout the game. In the end RVC would win 16-7.
Next Middle School game will be on Sunday Oct 23rd against Cold Spring Harbor.
