Middle School With a Huge Win over HHH

by Tim McManus

Wow what an exciting game last night for the RVC middle school team facing a tough Half Hollow Hills.  Falling behind 2-0 mid way thru the first, Rockville Centre would score its first of three power play goals to bring some life back into their bench.  Ethan Epstein would score his first of the game, assisted by Sean Johnson and Cooper Goldspiel bringing it to 2-1.  Moments later Eamon Primrose would spin around and take a great wrister that would find the back of the net, evening the score at 2-2.

The second half would start much life the first ended, with RVC in control and fighting hard for loose pucks.  Epstein would make a terrific feed from behind the net, finding Angelo Efstathiou all alone in front of the goal, putting RVC in the lead for the first time 3-2.  A pesky HHH squad would even up the score again, only to have Epstein once again give the Cyclones the lead, 4-3.  HHH forward #9 Patsalos who would be noticeable all game would even the score once again.  Primrose would get clobbered along the boards drawing another RVC power play, this time Johnson would bury a nice shot off a Goldspiel feed.  Epstein would then score on a 2 on 0, from a terrific feed from Johnson.  To ice the game, Johnson would score once again from a pass from Jake Seidman.

Sammy Sobel as he has done all season, quietly had a terrific game making big saves whenever needed.  Gevin Cook was tremendous all night look, looking like the energizer bunny all game long, with a relentless back check that broke up numerous HHH scoring chance.  Cook was named 'player of the game' by the coaches.

Next up, the Cyclones will face their cross town rivals Garden City who are also undefeated to date.  Should be a fun one!
